Jacob  Mitas recently formed an association with violin maker Jamie Herrmann creating the Herrmann and Mitas Studio in South East Portland at the Historic Towne Storage Building.  Jamie received his training through a full professional apprenticeship in violin making and restoration with award winning violin maker Christopher Germain. He was then hired by Frederick W. Oster Fine Violins in Philadelphia, where he eventually became one of the head restoration specialists. Jamie has had the opportunity to work with some of the finest soloists and orchestral players in the Northeast.

Housing the two craftsman under one roof will allow string players to benefit from a full range of instrument and bow services. In everything from the custom making of new violins and bows, to re-hairs and set ups, to complex restoration jobs on bows and instruments, Herrmann & Mitas are an attentive, qualified, and highly skilled team.  Both have worked extensively with many members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, and faculty and students of the Curtis Institute of Music. Clients include The Dover Quartet, Ray Chen, Noah Geller: Concertmaster of the Kansas City Symphony, Anna Marie Petersen, and many others. We are proud to be forming new relationships in Portland Oregon, such as that with Assistant Concertmaster Erin Furbee and other talented players  of the Oregon Symphony.
